Set against a deep black ground, the cover is woven with curling antique-gold thorn vines and vivid crimson roses. Rather than serving as simple decoration, the thorns become part of the structure of the binding itself, twisting across the composition in sweeping loops and enclosing the title within a visual language of beauty, danger, and enchantment.

The flowing SLEEPING BEAUTY lettering is integrated into the ornament, while Charles Perrault appears beneath in a more restrained treatment. The limited palette of black, antique gold, and deep red gives the clutch a dramatic nineteenth-century character while allowing the roses to remain the dominant flashes of color.

The reverse continues the design without typography, allowing the thorn-covered rose vines to spread freely across the entire surface. The result recalls the decorative back board of an elaborate antique book while creating a striking fashion surface in its own right.
