This version preserves that historic composition while introducing a new, jewel-toned color treatment. Shades of turquoise, teal, emerald, blue, and antique gold bring the peacock’s magnificent plumage to life, transforming the original gilt design into something even more striking as a fashion piece.

Across the front, the peacock stands proudly beside the title while its enormous tail sweeps upward and outward, filling the cover with curling feathers and brilliant “eyes.” The historic wording—“Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen — Illustrated by Hugh Thomson”—remains integrated into the design, preserving the character of the original nineteenth-century edition.
